Candid portrait...
I love candid photography, I love the special moments that can be captured when you are not focusing on the technical side of everything and are with friends and you capture the exact emotion they are feeling, rather than a forced, posed emotion. I like this picture because it capture the emotion of and the feeling of what was happening in the moment that this picture was taken. This was taken at Soul Survivor, a christian youth festival, before one of the main meetings. During this time there is lots of anticipation and excitement as the meeting draws nearer, and I think this is captured in this photo with the smile, but also the people in the background looking around for places to sit and dancing and having a good time.

Fashion...
This is an image I took during my A-levels while experimenting with the use of light and light trails within fashion photography. To create this I took the picture of the girl and then another at night of a light trail created by a sparkler, then layered the two images together. This is a personal favorite photo of mine, taken by myself because I think that it is quite original and I could possibly explore this further and create a series of images using this technique.

The sky...
The sky is such a beautiful mass, with clouds that paint pictures across the big flat blue canvas. In the summer it is truly beautiful when you can get the wisps of clouds creating ice crystals making parts of a rainbow in the atmosphere. I took these back in the summer, 2012, in my back garden when I noticed the rainbow, ice crystal formation.
Both these photos are available to purchase as prints, framed and unframed, also on stretched canvas HERE.

Bee
During the summer I decided to go out into my back garden and take some pictures of the flowers and insects that had been drawn to the bright colours in the flower beds. This is one of my personal favorite macro shots that I have taken, I love the detailing that you can see on the bee itself and the pollen covered legs. I like how there are two stark contrasts, with the flower and its dark background, and also with the dark black stripes of the bee against the bright yellow of the flower.

Bridge in Matlock
While on holiday in Matlock I was walking along the promenade and saw this bridge, whose beauty looks to be taken advantage of everyday by the people who use it simply to cross the river. I saw this bridge and instantly fell in love with its intricate and beautiful, Victorian design. The swooping of the sides leading the passer by to the unknown woodland of the opposite said of the river to the promenade. This bridge, partly hidden, and boxed in by its two pillars on either side and holding the bridge in place, giving it the perfect frame, with the over grown trees around it.

Barn Owl
This is one of my favorite images that I have taken, I took this in the autumn of 2011, at Alton Towers. They had a few different owls around in their farm yard part of the park, this particular bird being right near the fence which made it very difficult to photograph without getting the chicken wire fencing in the picture, I resorted to leaning over the fence and not looking through the viewfinder and going in blind, and this was the result, however it did take a few shots as there were lots of people around and the bird was figity, but as soon as I got this one I knew that no more needed to be taken. What I love about this image is that you can see the majesty of this beautiful creature in its dark black eyes and the fact half its head is in shadow shows the hunter within when there is the cover of darkness.
This photo is available to purchase as a print, framed and unframed, also on stretched canvas HERE.

Hello
Hi, so I have made this blog as a place that I can share some of my photography work and to just give updates on what I am doing and where I am at. In September I will be starting a BA Honors in photography at the Cambridge school of arts, I am looking forward to this, and looking forward to the opportunity's that this will present me. I hope to explore lots of different types of photography while there, but also focus on one main topic that I hope to peruse as a career, this being wildlife photography, my ultimate goal is to have a great, trail blazing career in the world of wildlife photography, with my inspirations being Andy Rouse, Chris Weston and, although not a photographer, but inspired by his documentaries, David Attenborough. That is just a bit about myself and what I plan on doing but if you want to check out my full portfolio you can visit my flickr page.
Thank you for reading and I will begin to share my images soon.
Sam.
